Based on the discoveries doing the demo of the inside of the home, we have been able to create a little bit of a timeline of the evolution of this home.
In 1890 the home was built. The original shape was a (as seen from above) a capital T. The house did not have a porch on the Kenwood Street side, nor did it have the kitchen and lower roof. Of course it also did not have a garage.
The house (being a shingle style home) had small shingles in the gables and wood plank siding. The Kenwood street side had two windows on the first floor with the formal front door in the middle between them. The second floor had two windows right next to each other (like it is today). The open porch on the south side of the house was original. However the first floor living room window on the south side was originally two separate double-hung windows. The dining room was likely the kitchen back then.
All of the original home was built extremely well and that is why we love this home.
